Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo includes punching, kicking
and striking techniques, as well as throwing and painful hold/lock
techniques to respond to attacks by an opponent.Shorinjiryu
Kenkokan Karatedo also includes the Bo (six foot staff) and
Jo (four foot stick) stick-fighting martial arts, and the use
of the Sai (short trident), as developed by the founder. |

Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo has two major methods: the
Karate (empty hand) method and the Buki-ho (armed) method. The
Karate method does not use any weapons, relying on the optimal
utilization of mind and body, kicking, punching and striking
with the Ken (fist) and Tegatana (sword hand), protecting the
body with onefs bare hands and preventing the enemy from attacking.
The Buki-ho method utilizes various kinds of weapons such as
Bo, Jo and Sai, which adds more length to the body and requires
additional consideration by the mind. Both Karate and Buki-ho
methods include strikes and throws designed to train and protect
the mind and body. |

Our training methods focus on unifying mind, technique and
body through a scientific and dynamic approach to using empty
hands and bare feet in combat. The goal of our training is to
gain self understanding by tasting the true meaning of combat,
aiming at harmony of the mind, spirit and body, working for
the pursuit of truth, goodness, health and beauty. |
| ¡ |
All people regardless of age and gender can practice Karate
safely and experience our dynamic training without injury through
the use of gSuper Safeh equipment, which is used in all Shorinjiryu
Kenkokan Karatedo schools around the world.
